In-Home Pet Euthanasia

“Euthanasia” derives from the Greek words “eu” (meaning “good”) and “Thanatos” (meaning “death”), which together form the phrase “good death.” As veterinarians, we have the privilege of helping your furry companions and their families during this difficult time.

When your pet's quality of life is no longer what it should be, we feel honored to be able to release them from their pain by ending their suffering in the comfort of their home. Our goal is to provide you with a gentle, knowledgeable, and loving end-of-life care experience for your companions in their familiar surroundings. Please rest assured that we understand how difficult this is, and we provide this service with empathy, integrity, and understanding without any judgment. In most cases, we offer, or we may be able to offer, same-day services to provide the support you need right when you need it.

A Florida-licensed veterinarian performs our in-home pet euthanasia services. Visits start at $375 and include:

  • Sedation to help remove pain and anxiety

  • Gentle euthanasia

  • Clay paw print

  • Lock of fur clipping

  • Aftercare services, if selected (for an additional fee)

  • Pet loss resources

While most families take about 30-45 minutes, we always schedule one-hour-long appointments to ensure that your family does not feel rushed during this difficult time. Our doctors will meet and greet your companion, explain the process in detail to your family, and confirm all the required paperwork and aftercare wishes. We want to ensure you have time to ask any questions you may have and confirm that you are making the best decision for your pet. We understand firsthand how difficult this is and the deep bond you share with your pet, as we are all pet owners ourselves and have had to make the same decision for our own pets.

After receiving a sedation injection that includes pain and relaxant medication, your pet will begin to drift into a deep sleep, similar to an anesthetic level, while surrounded by your love and possibly while enjoying their favorite treat. Once we confirm that your beloved companion does not feel any more pain or stress, we will administer the 2nd medication (the actual euthanasia medication), which is an overdose of general anesthesia.

After their passing is confirmed, we will gently make a paw print and fur clipping if you wish. We will give you some private time to pay your final respect to your furry friend, and we can also handle their aftercare for you. We will transport them with the dignity they deserve with the utmost respect.
